  • Keep your initial bid for your hotel room to a single geographic area and higher star level than you'd be happy with - this will allow you to try your bid again.
  • If your cheap hotel room bid is rejected, try again with a lower star level and increased geographical areas. You can do this several times.
  • Be flexible!  If you're trying to find a cheap hotel room in a resort area on a weekend in the high season, consider a nearby city!  For example, San Jose, CA is close to Santa Cruz, CA.  Santa Cruz is extremely expensive on a summer weekend, and San Jose is a ghost town!  You can get a 4 star in San Jose for $42.00 or a 1 star in Santa Cruz for $149.  If driving a few miles is no problem, adjust your geographical area!
  • Practice makes perfect!  Travel frequently?  Keep a print out of the bids you win for future reference.  You'll be amazed at how easy it is to find a cheap hotel room on Priceline!
